Balance Transfer Terms and Conditions

  1. A balance transfer can be both a transfer from a credit or store card and a transfer to your bank account.
  2. The maximum amount that can be transferred is 90% of your available credit limit. If your credit limit is not enough to cover the balance transfer amount in full, we will ask you to confirm whether you would like to transfer a lower amount.
  3. We reserve the right to refuse a balance transfer or to limit the amount that you can transfer. Should we honour amounts in excess of your balance transfer limit they will be added to your account as part of your standard balance. We may need to ask you to provide further information before confirming your balance transfer.
  4. If you wish to transfer a balance to your bank account you must provide us the details of a UK current account which is in your name and for which you hold a related debit card. We are unable to transfer money to a non UK current account, savings account, or to an account which is not in your name.
  5. A handling fee will apply to each balance transfer that you make. Please refer to your offer or your Barclaycard Terms and Conditions for details.
  6. Unless we tell you otherwise, we cannot accept transfers to other credit card or loan accounts held with Barclays Bank PLC or any other Barclays group company.
  7. If you choose to close your account with other lenders, please let them know in writing.
  8. You should continue to make payments to your other lenders until is has been confirmed that the balance has been transferred.
  9. If you do not make at least the minimum payment by the payment due date, or you exceed your credit limit at any time we will remove any promotional rate on your balance transfer and charge your interest at your standard rate instead.
  10. If you make a balance transfer request during your application for a new Barclaycard, then you will commit to making your balance transfer when you sign up to your agreement and have 60 days to make your transfer.
  11. For your protection and to help prevent fraud, your balance transfer application will be subject to a delay to enable us to complete additional checks.  In all, please allow up to 8 working days for your balance transfer application to be processed and the funds to be transferred.
  12. If we believe that the details you have provided are incorrect or that your account is being used fraudulently, your transfer may be cancelled.
